We just got back from our first camping trip at Campland on the Bay and oh my gosh, what a dream! I couldn’t wait to share all of the amazing details of our trip! If you are in Southern California, you are likely familiar with or have heard of Campland on the Bay. If you aren’t, keep reading below for 5 reasons why you NEED to visit Campland on the Bay!
Campland on the Bay is located in San Diego at Mission Bay. Campland offers waterfront RV and tent camping year round. Campland on the Bay is perfect for families and all ages. There are a ton of amenities and activities for everyone!
You can head to their website to check availability and make your reservation. We visited during their slower season and it was not fully booked. However, summer gets very busy so make sure to book in advanced!
We have a 29’ travel trailer and stayed at space H12. It is a pull through site with full hook ups and a fire pit. It was right by the dog park, pool, gym and kid’s park.
In my opinion, it was the perfect location on the campground, but you truly cannot go wrong with any of the spots!
Beautiful Campground and Views:
If you have been to San Diego, you know how beautiful it is. Mission Bay is one of my favorite parts of San Diego because of the views! Campland on the Bay is right on Mission Bay and has a beach and marina on site. There are bike paths for bike riding all around Mission Bay. Every spot in Campland offers stunning views year round that just cannot be beat! Campland on the Bay is the perfect Southern California getaway.
Activities and Amenities:
The amount of activities and amenities Campland on the Bay offers is unreal! This is my favorite thing about the campground. There were so many options to choose from and different activities for all ages.
At check in, you are provided with an activity calendar to see what is scheduled each day. When we visited, they offered pickle ball, yoga, ping pong, dodgeball, bingo, and capture the flag. During the summer, they host live concerts on their main stage on the weekends.
We have a toddler and an infant so we spent most of our time at the park and arcade! Our toddler loves the beach so we did spend some time playing in the sand but it was a little chilly to truly enjoy the beach in January.

Food and Drinks on Site:
Have you ever stayed at a campground with a full restaurant and bar on site? So amazing!! We love to bbq when camping but it was really nice to enjoy a nice lunch and drinks at The Cantina.
The food was delicious and the margaritas are addicting; the coconut margarita was our favorite! The Cantina turns into a really fun atmosphere at night with lively music and happy hour. And you can’t beat the views of the bay and marina from The Cantina!
Attached to The Cantina is the Ice Cream Parlor which was definitely our kids’ favorite! There were 16 flavors of ice cream and tons of toppings to choose from. I imagine the line is out the door during summer months!
