With Kennadi’s 1st birthday approaching, I knew I wanted to take her to Disneyland. We live 30 minutes away and love visiting! We haven’t been since January of 2019 due to Covid. Now that it was reopened, I convinced my husband to take Kennadi for her first birthday!
Her birthday was even more special because a few of our immediate family members could join us. Kennadi’s cousin, Bexley, was also going to Disneyland for the first time! These two were just so adorable together; I still can’t get over it!
If you have any hesitations of taking your little ones to Disneyland, let me tell you… DO IT! Kennadi had SO much fun! It was such a special day filled with memories we will never forget. Disneyland with a one year old is quite easier than it sounds… and there is a lot to do!

Disney Clothing:
Listen, I love Disney but I don’t totally love all the bright colored, cartoon filled clothing. It took me awhile to find the perfect outfit for Kennadi. The even better part… I was able to find us matching outfits! If you follow me on Instagram, you know I LOVE matching her.
Mom & Baby Disney Crewnecks:
- Make sure to check out Sweet P Baby Co! Lo is so sweet and has an absolutely adorable Disney section.
Minnie Ears
- I found the ears on Etsy from Cutest Little Headwear. They have so many cute ears and custom options!
Shoes
- Can you ever go wrong with glitter Kate Spade shoes?! My sister in law gave us Bexley’s old Kate Spade shoes so of course, I bought the matching pair for myself. I loved how they matched our Disney ears perfectly.
- Adult shoes
- Baby shoes
Baby Disney Princess Costume
- My Mom bought Kennadi her Cinderella costume from Amazon. It was hard finding baby sizes but I linked different options below!

- Other Princess Costumes
One other store I want to mention is H&M. They always have a great Disney section for babies and toddlers; and it is super affordable!

What to Bring:
We visited in January but with California weather, you never know what you will get. It was in the 70s during the day (amazing weather) but was cold in the morning and evening. Definitely bring a few layers, changes of clothes, and a blanket.
Some other essentials: Sunscreen, Hat, Stroller Fan (if it will be super warm), and a Portable Charger (if you are like me and take tons of pictures and videos.)
Goes without saying but bring a lot of snacks! We brought Kennadi’s water bottle, milk, and tons of snacks. We kept everything in our Yeti cooler in the stroller.
Our favorite thing we brought was our Osprey Backpack. My husband had been wanting one forever so we decided to buy it before Disneyland and test it out there. We had the stroller as well but Kennadi hates being contained in the stroller for long durations. She LOVED being in the backpack! She was able to sit up higher and look around at everything. You can’t bring your stroller in line and sometimes the stroller parking was pretty far from the lines. Kennadi is not walking yet and it was SO much easier being able to have her in the backpack while in lines instead of having to hold her the whole time. Bonus: She fell asleep while in it!

Baby Friendly Rides:
I was surprised at how many rides Kennadi could actually go on! You have to look for the rides that say “Any Height” and that means you can take your baby on and have them ride in your lap.
One thing to know, they required us to have socks or shoes on Kennadi for the rides. Kennadi hates keeping shoes on and we kept forgetting to grab the socks from the stroller so that was a little annoying. We eventually started using the backpack for the lines and kept her socks in there.
Her favorite rides were It’s a Small World and Jungle Cruise!

Other Tips for Disneyland With a One Year Old:
Make sure you stop at City Hall to get any special pins! We made sure to grab the Birthday pin and First Visit pin. These are free and are a great keepsake!
We didn’t stop here but I have read that the Baby Care Center is amazing! They have formula, snacks, diapers, etc. The center has changing tables, nursing areas, and bottle warmers. It definitely sounds ideal and helpful for moms! I am sure it would be a nice place for a break from the heat in the summer.
Download the Disney app. You can see all the ride wait times, ride height restrictions, and mobile order food and drinks on the app. It is really helpful for planning out your day and saves a lot of walking around time.

Let me know if you have any other questions about Disneyland! You won’t be as fast getting around with a little one but you will have an amazing time. Kennadi was so amazed on each ride and it was so special to watch.
