I am SO excited to finally share our second baby pregnancy announcement with everyone! We are expecting our second baby in October! I wanted to cover a little bit about our journey in getting pregnant and an overview of my first trimester. Keep reading until the very end for an even bigger surprise!

Second Baby Pregnancy Announcement: Trying to Conceive
My husband and I both wanted our kids to be close in age. My sister and I are 22 months apart and I feel it is the perfect age gap. Kennadi and her new sibling will be 21 months apart. While I am extremely nervous for two under two, I know their bond is going to be the best!
Anyways, with that being said, we had decided we would start trying close to Kennadi’s first birthday. We chose to stop being careful in December, a month before Kennadi turned one. We ended up getting pregnant at the end of January. It took us two months to conceive with Kennadi and again took two months with this baby.
I can’t say much about trying to conceive since we were extremely fortunate both times but I do love using the ovulation strips. They were an absolute necessity for me this time due to my cycle being so irregular since having Kennadi.

Second Baby Pregnancy Announcement: Finding Out
I am not a very patient person, at allllll. So, the dreaded two week wait was always torture for me. In January, I didn’t feel like I was pregnant and fully expected my period which came. However, in February, close to the two week mark, I just had this gut feeling.
I had a very similar feeling when I was pregnant with Kennadi. It is something I can’t explain other than some sort of intuition/gut feeling. With Kennadi, I tested three days before my missed period and it was positive! This time, I sat with the feeling for two days and then finally tested when I was four days away from my expected period.
I tested first thing in the morning and it was the faintest line! Well, I thought I saw a faint line but I kept second guessing it. I shrugged it off and decided I would test the next day. That didn’t last longer than three hours. Like I said, I am too anxious! I took a digital test and immediately it said pregnant. Even though I had that gut feeling, I was still so surprised the test was already positive!
I ran out that afternoon with Kennadi to find a onesie that said sister. My husband was coming home from work the next morning and I wanted to surprise him with her in a onesie. I found one that said “Best Sister” and it worked out perfectly!

Second Baby Pregnancy Announcement: First Trimester
I felt so lucky during my pregnancy with Kennadi; I had a super easy pregnancy and an easy delivery (full birth story here.) I am praying this pregnancy is the same!
So far, this pregnancy is pretty similar. The main difference in the first trimester is I felt more nauseous and less tired than I did with Kennadi. Otherwise, everything is about the same. But, they are not wrong when they say you start showing sooner with your second pregnancy. I already have an obvious baby bump at 13 weeks, craziness!!

Second Baby Pregnancy Announcement: Gender
When we were pregnant with Kennadi, I wanted to find out the gender as soon as possible! We did the sneak peek blood test and found out at 12 weeks. I couldn’t wait to start designing the nursery and shopping for everything.
Well, this time around, we are doing things a little differently. As my husband says, we are “doing it old school” and not finding out the gender. We are both super content not knowing. We don’t have a preference on which gender we want so we figured we should wait until birth for the ultimate surprise!

Second Baby Pregnancy Announcement: The BIG Surprise
Okay, so if you follow me on Instagram, you have seen that I have a younger sister who is also my absolute best friend. Well, she just finished law school and had told everyone her and her husband weren’t going to start trying until after she took her BAR exam this summer.
I had kept bugging her and begging her to start trying sooner so our babies could be close. Well, without knowing it (at first,) we both started trying in December. Once she told me, we kind of joked about what would happen and how crazy if we ended up getting pregnant at the same time….
Well, joke was on us! We both got pregnant in January! AND we are due JUST TWO DAYS apart!! I am still in shock and just SO over the moon excited.
I will keep a long story short but we were both texting back and forth the week before our expected periods and I told her I had the gut feeling but hadn’t tested yet. Even after I tested, I still lied and told her I hadn’t taken a test yet.. only because I had to wait for my husband to get home the next day to tell him first.
I kept asking her if she was going to test yet and she continued to say no.. and I fully believed her. I told my husband on a Friday morning and then told him that we had to facetime my sister and brother in law that evening once she was off work because I couldn’t lie again about not having tested!
So, we facetimed her and had the screen on Kennadi holding up the tests. My sister was screaming and went to show her husband. Well, once he was on the screen with her, they held up positive pregnancy tests! It was such a crazy, unreal moment!!
Based off our periods, our expected due dates were two weeks apart. But, once we both had our ultrasounds, my due date got pushed back (I ovulated later in my cycle) and now our due dates are officially two days apart!!

So much exciting news to share! I will continue to share pregnancy posts over the next six months. I also will be sharing a lot of pregnancy content on Instagram so make sure to follow!
If you didn’t find out the gender for your pregnancy, let me know below! And I am looking for ALL of the tips on surviving two under two so share away! Thank you guys, as always, for your continuous support!

Congratulations!! And at the same time as your sister! So fun!
